On December 4, 1966, Fred Armisen, an American comedian, actor, writer, producer, and musician, was born. Along with his comic partner Carrie Brownstein, Armisen co-created and co-starred in the IFC sketch comedy series Portlandia.
He co-created and stars in the mockumentary IFC series Documentary Now! (2015–present), which he co-created with Bill Hader and Seth Meyers, as well as the Showtime comedy series Moonbase 8 (2020–present), which also stars John C. Reilly and Tim Heidecker. He was Speedy Gonzales’ voice actor on The Looney Tunes Show (2011–2013).
Armisen launched ThunderAnt.com, a website that displays the comic skits created with Brownstein, in addition to serving as conductor and frequent drummer for the Late Night with Seth Meyers house band, The 8G Band.

Armisen does not have any known siblings. With his high school pals, Armisen played drums in a local band in Valley Stream, New York, in 1984. Nevertheless, the band disbanded quickly. He relocated to Chicago in 1988 to play drums for the punk rock band Trenchmouth, and in the 1990s, he performed with Blue Man Group as a drummer in the background.
